Whale Song is inspired by the Atlantic Ocean and the whales that journey along the southern African coastline, including the waters around Hermanus where these magnificent visitors return year after year.
Painted blocks of ocean blue create a rhythm across the design, broken by touches of rust, ochre and sea green. Hand-drawn whales, tails and small details move between them - some immediately visible, others waiting to be discovered.
There is something special about watching the ocean and waiting: a tail disappearing beneath the water, a fin breaking the surface, or the unmistakable shape of a whale appearing in the distance. Whale Song captures a little of that magic.
Created as a generously sized sarong, it is light and easy to wrap around the waist over swimwear or drape loosely over the shoulders.
