CAPRI was created by Caren Winckler and artist Elke le Roux, bringing together original art, a love of beautiful things and the places that stay with us.
CAPRI began long before either of us knew it would.
Elke has been creating for more than twenty years. With a background in fine art and architecture, her work has moved between drawing, design, ceramics and jewellery. Different mediums, but always with the same idea at heart: creating something beautiful that makes someone feel good.
Scarves were one of those mediums.
And that is how Caren and Elke met.
During chemotherapy, scarves became part of Caren's everyday life. What began as something practical soon became something she genuinely loved wearing - beautiful pieces that could change how she felt, not simply how she looked.
Caren discovered Elke's scarves and became one of her biggest supporters. What started with a scarf became a friendship, and over time, a shared idea began to take shape.
What if the artwork could tell the stories of the places we love?
What if you could wear those stories?
That idea became CAPRI.
The Art
Every design begins by hand. Pencil, paint, line and colour slowly become the artwork that will eventually find its way onto a scarf.
THE DETAILS
The artwork is only the beginning. Fabric, size, colour and finish are considered together, because the way a scarf feels matters just as much as the way it looks.
